why not just spot weld the new snout on like the original??

I would think it's rather difficult to spot weld like the original was attached, as the metal is so thin and easily melted into oblivian.

Steve, I usually post over on TC and lurk here, since I don't have a "super-car" . If I can help here, then I post. Hope all is well with you. Been a busy and trying summer so far. Have not gotten anything done.

I was given free tickets to the K&N supernationals and went last Sunday, that was fun! Sat in the hospiltality tent with Tim Wilkerson's Funny car and watched them take the car apart because he did not advance to the 2nd round (too bad). Tim talked to us about bobbling the pre stage and stage lights because of a sticky hand brake. They I watched the ESPN show later the night and saw it .240 light I was amazed at the size of the intake valves . My youngest met Erica Enders (she did not advance either), which was nice since she loved the Disney novie about Erica.

July 29 Jackson cruise night is being visited by Car Craft for an article if you want to take a drive down. The Jackson cruise AVERAGED 1600 cars per night last year! Here is a pic.

Back to the snout problem, I bought some stuff from Eastwood, but I do not recommend it. Use the 3M stuff that Mike posted.

John, GM used the snout on a lot of cars during 69-72, but they have to come from a manual trans car, which makes them rare. Even 67-68s are close, but sometimes they were mounted upside-down, so the snout faces up instead of down. no prob, just reverse it. Keep hunting swap meets and ebay. Last resort is find a repro cheap and harvest the horn. If you drill through the spot welds, it is fine, but you just have to fill and smooth (outside and inside)more to get the correct "look".

Steve is right about the metal, it caves under heat. lowest MIG setting just blows through.

Good luck!

Kevin, That looks like an amazing cruise. How early do you have to get there to get a spot? I dont think there's enough gas stations between my house and the lot to drive the Hemi, so I may have to trailer. Is there any place to park a trailer nearby?

Steve, we got there last night at 4:45 and the spots we filling up fast. Yes there is a lot of trailered cars that show up (mostly drag cars). Someone has trailered rails to the cruise . The trailer parking fills up fast, so get there by 5. Another alternative, is to bring the trailer to my house or a friends then drive over. It's about 5-7 miles away. Your tank has that much gas You will still need the day off. They were expecting 2,000 cars last night, seemed like 1,500 though.

We did not get there early enough to beat out others for the prime parking places. we are getting there by 3:30 next time.
