| '68 DH funny car back together

Below is the new BBC engine I had built for the '68 Camaro, about 1300 HP. Also, added a new full race 400 turbo and torque convertor for it. Mo and I ran it some last night, no problems, so time to put the body back on. Should be ready to rock and roll by this weekend. Hopeing to do some TNT in the next couple of weeks, then off to do some shows and even a few exhibition races. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/down...?Number=131052

When I run it in the garage, cannot get anyone to stick around long enough to film, something about the noise and fumes. Guess I am just hard of hearing and breathed too much formaldehyde. Kim, maybe too healthy for a old fart like me. Sooner or later we all have to turn it over to the younger guys. Only problem here, Rob or Jon keep telling me the firesuit is too small for them.

[ QUOTE ] When I run it in the garage, cannot get anyone to stick around long enough to film, something about the noise and fumes. [/ QUOTE ] We displayed the car at a festival here in town a year or so ago, but we were busy at work, which meant Mo and I were in charge of dealing with the funny car. Well, everyone was beggin' us all day to fire it, but the festival just happened to be held on the square here in town...so we said "ok", but we told people it would be best to stand WAY back, and to cover the kids ears. But the usual *tough guys* kept hanging around the car basically ignoring us. So, we fired that thing off, and you shoulda seen the crowd scatter! We let it idle for a few seconds, then a couple quick blips of the throttle, and then we shut it off...about that time the friggin' organizers of the event came running towards us, and tried to give us a butt chewing! I guess we drowned out the band on the opposite side of the square, and scared the bejeezits out of everyone in town! Mo and I got a pretty good laugh outta that one... |

[/ QUOTE ] Brings back memories of the "Good Ole Days" when crews would fire these things under your motel window in the middle of the night. Now that would awaken you in a hurry, but it was to be expected? |
