A taste of Chicago.
This is what most people do when they spend an hour digging out a spot on the street to park in. They use crates, chairs, etc. to save their spot. All I can say is DON"T be the guy that steals their spot! You will probably come out to see your car windows busted out or tires slashed!  Thank god I own the building or I would be out on the street as well where your car is at serious risk of getting hit by a car or plow truck in this mess!
