Default Motion Wheels

It appears that the wheels on my Maco are wheels that appear in a Motion ad.

Here's an ad from Corvette 1975 Annual...

a closeup of one my wheels. Exactly the same.

Interesting to me...

That reminds me... did Motion ever offer a "Motion" wheel center-cap emblem?

Not trying to burst your bubble but, I don't think the two rims are exactly the same. The Motion rim doesn't have a spinner or cover over the lug nuts and it looks like the fins on the Motion rim extend further towards the outer lip of the rim. Your rim resembles the one in the Motion ad but, I think they are from two different manufacturers.

------Not only what 1996Z15 said but the fins on the Motion wheel are curved. I have seen that Motion wheel over the years but cant quite remember the manufacturer. The wheel you have pictured looks like a western 8-inch bolt on wheel off a Collector series 82 Vette with a cone and fake spinner attached to it. Still a pretty good looking combo...............Bill S

I have the wheels off motion 1s maco in the shop. they have the valve stem between the fins. the center cap is packed in a box right now , but it had a label with white letters on light blue. can't remember what they were. So David there NOT the same wheels. TIM

That could be . the triangle might be an A. theres no casting on the outside. It may be cast on the inside. but tires are still on rims TIM

Look for a name on the back of the wheel. If there is anything on the rim to show who made it; it will be on the back side of the wheel. the insides are usually fully machined and I have never seen any with anything stamped on the inside.

From my '75 Annual the wheels are Western. There is a 454 Motion 454 Vette with the same wheels and you can see the Western wheel cap quite clearly. Your wheel spinner and cone cap is somebodies add on. I had some Western Slots and I don't think Western was stamped or molded in the backside of the wheel. I know they are western because I talked with the original guy who bought them and they had the caps with them.
