Those grills? Yes, when the hood was lifted up you could see through those grills...

When the GM Mako Shark II was remade into the GM Manta Ray, the hood for the most part stayed the same... the headlights changed... but overall there wasn't a lot of change to the hood... This model is a digitally-scanned exact recreation of the GM Manta Ray. Tons of good photos. You can buy these on e-bay for around $60.
