Default Re: Any ides what 79 trans am 9400 miles is worth?

Is this a Special Edition car, or just black with a tan interior?

The low mileage sounds great, but that price is a bit high for a 301 powered car. The desireable engine for the 79 Trans Am was the Pontiac 400 (only available with a 4-speed in 1979). The bulk of the 79 Trans Am's had the 403 Olds engine (automatic trans only). The 301 is at the very bottom of the heap, and is shunned by the Pontiac community. The 301 was never intended to be a performance motor, it was designed from the ground up to be a lightweight, gas-sipping economy engine. Having a 301 in a Trans Am is like having a 305 powered Corvette. The 1980/1981 Turbo 301 models fair a little better from a collectability standpoint being that it was a turbocharged V8, but they were still a disappointment.

The price of 77-79 Trans Am's have gone up in recent years, but they are seldom are over $15,000 unless they're low mileage examples with the Pontiac engine.
