I am the current owner of a 1969 Chevelle Deluxe 300 SS with L78
that was purchased new by a gentleman named Paul Whipkey who lived in Canton, Ohio. Paul drag raced the car from 69-71, and then put the car in storage. In November 1985 Paul sold the car to Joseph Orlando in Sandyville, Ohio. The car has a Bill Thomas sticker on the left rear window. Has anyone out there ever heard of Paul Whipkey or Joseph Orlando? I will try to attach a picture of the car and the decal. The car still has the original paint so it should still look like it would have in 69. I know this is a long shot, but I never cease to be amazed by the knowledge on this site !

It's a hardtop Don. You wouldn't like it. It's more my style. At least two thirds of the 300 Deluxe SS Chevelles that I have run across are L78 powered. People sort of had something in mind when they bought these cars.
We found the original owner of ours so it can happen. Talked to two others that owned it along the way. The history really is a neat part of the car. The old stories are great, especially over a . |
