| 1969 SS396 Indy Pace Car

I was talking to somebody today that knows of an original owner 69 396 Indy Pace Car that will be for sale. It needs a restoration I'm told but I said I would pass the word. Anyone interested, contact me and I'll forward your information. I think the asking price is in the $35K range. Too bad I don't have any money.

I was at Texas World Speedway for vintage races yesterday and I was introduced to someone that bought a 1969 Indy Pace car new (396 4 speed). He even drove it to the track yesterday with the top down and I got a chance to look at it. Mind you, it was in the high 30's yesterday morning. The car is pretty tired but an original L36 four speed, non-air, Norwood car. Lots of rust in the rear quarters, could not tell if the engine was original. I had to admire a guy that drove 80 miles with the top and windows down on a morning like this. |
