Some of us just like to restore these old cars the way the GENERAL wished they could have be done, if it weren't for mass production and assembly lines, etc. making guys rush to get things done....I don't know many guys that don't want their car to look the BEST it can, not the way some 60's line worker did it...but better!

I'll be the first to say that a true correct restoration is one that is done just like the GM did - mistakes, errors, ommissions, oversprays, wrong gaps, etc included. Correctness means 'no better, no worse' than the day it rolled off the dealer's lot. There are many who actually like them that way, not the prettiest, but that's the way they came. I usually don't understand how someone will put some crayon markings on a car - even though they too look ugly - but won't leave some orange peel in the paint, or put overspray onto the firewall

But, that's what makes the world go 'round!

It's just hard to spend 50 bucks an hour for a restoration and tell them to please make the same mistakes as the factory and also, please give me a mediocre paint job too....I can see both sides but if it's sitting in my garage...I want the most bang out of my buck...not something that 3 people will look at and admire the mistakes and orange peel.I'm sure it's harder to actually GET the correct paint finish on a car though.

It really comes down to your individual purpose of the car. Do you plan on entering high level judged shows and want to compete in "original restored" class, or do you want the best looking car you can get for the money. It's nice to have choices.

Yea Mystery Chevelle, It was a line deal. So that makes it NOT BETTER! I agree, you are not going to ding your doors or not line up the seams, but like Marlin said, overspray, different color bolts, maybe a different number coil or horn relay is what makes a true resto Correct. Anybody can build a kit car. Why does my car have this, and your car doesn't? Thats what makes this hobby unique. We are not cloning cars here! JMO Sam

This is my Z. I apologize if the ad on my website gives the meaning that the miles were original. That is not the intention. The car is a very nice car. My web guy made a mistake on the color, should be Burgandy. You know, it's a funny thing about that "CAUTION FAN" sticker. Alot of Mustangs end up with that sticker and it is incorrect as well. If you show your car at an MCA event without it, they will deduct points for NOT having it. This car also was the class winner at the 2001 Topeka,KS Super Chevy show. Maybe they overlooked it, too. The car was at Russo and Steele and I owned it before and after the auction. The guy who said in an earlier post that he talked to the owner at the sale and now it was at a dealer, if you talked to the owner at the auction then you talked to me. I always tell people I'm a dealer, when asked. They said at the block when the car came up it was 'NO RESERVE', which was a mistake on their part. It didn't bring what I wanted so I didn't sell it. If anyone has any question feel free to contact me.

Mike

Put a removable " Caution fan sticker " just for the MCA show

I am the one who said I talked to you but it was actually your dad. He said he was into Mustangs and his son owned the Z. He just didnt make it sound like the owner of the Z was a dealer.
