Yep. That weight was on a certified scale, and with a tank of gas it goes over 3800. It surprises a lot of people when I tell them, as it did me, but you'd be surprised at the number of cars running NHRA stock eliminator that can't get down to their published shipping weights...

If I remember correctly, Pete's ZL-1/auto Camaro is just shy of 3500, as is (was) JJ's L-78 Nova (4-speed).
