Identifying another 400TH transmission
I have access to a Turbo400 tranny with the following coding:
C 70 381 F 70 CF 16878 Can someone help identify it's original use and give me any useful information about the tranny. Thanks!

Please fill out your user profile fully before the Greens (Moderators) get ya. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] The CF TH400 Was used in the 1970 Chevelle with the L-34 402/350HP engine. 70 is the year code. 381 is the date starting in January 1969,so 381 day is around January 16th,1970. 16878 is the Serial number of the Trans. itself. Look for a VIN# stamped on the Drivers side Horizontal Machined Pad located below the shifter linkage,above the pan gasket,for the exact car it came in. Rick |

Ok, it took me a while to find the vin but it reads 10A130155.

That is from a February 1970 Chevelle,built at the Lakewood Atlanta Plant with the last 6 digits in its VIN# being 130155.
