For a more common car, the cost of repairing a rust bucket might outweigh the value difference for original driveline. But for a 67Z, no question.....original drive line will add more value than it will cost to repair the rust. Especially if it is confined to the floors.

Thanks for the comments guys. I had a friend view the car today and it is pretty rusty...much rustier than it was described to me. However, the drivetain is all there - even the distributor, carb, etc. I've made an offer but I doubt it will be accepted. The current owner thinks you can basically replace nearly all of the sheetmetal on and under the car and paint it for $6,000

If it is that rusty, you will probably have almost 3,000 in materials not including the sheetmetal you would need. Nice project, nice car! Worth the money... Sam

Sounds like a great project, don't expect to get it on the cheap, however. These cars are now at the same price the COPO's were at just 3 years ago. Probably will appreciate more as less COPO's are available in project form. You must save the body, especially with an original drivetrain. Do whatever it takes, and if possible, use an original floor.

Just for fun, let's hear what some of you think it is worth? RS, good color, am radio, no other options, running, body shot - needs everything!

If the new guy can put his 2 cents in, this should be a two part question. The second question should be, what do you think it would cost to fix this thing right? Even with a 67 Z I think you would have more money into it than it would be worth when it was done. Again this means doing the car correctly with original parts whenever they can be found.

Bill: I'd say $40K minimum and more than likely $50K to restore it.

Mark:

My guess would have been in the same area $45-50000. And that's with me doing disassembly and reassembly and paying someone to do body, paint, machine and other specialized services. The scary thing is I am usually way low on my estimates.

Knowing the cost to restore it properly, that would probably put the value of the car as it sits around $15-25K IMO. The RS adds value along with a good color.
