Despite the way the shifter appears in the photo, it has the exact shape it should have. Although, they do have a reputation for being weak. At York last year, Jenkins' old crew told me they had to change the shifter in Dave's '62 all the time.
It is odd that he didn't mangle the shifter, since the engine received a Crower Super Stock cam in April '64, along with ported & polished heads (by Tony Fiel, then working for Van Iderstine) complete with Isky springs and aluminum retainers,..........and he did powershift the car. I do feel that the car is in good hands now. It, and it's history will be carefully preserved from now on. (and it's ills will be remedied) Many people who know me have said the same thing to me. Can't imagine a finer compliment. Thanks Verne
