I believe you could order the gauge package for a Malibu. Does your buildsheet show a U14 option? Not sure I would call what he is describing as "rare". I would say a little unusual, yes. Cut through all the hype in the text of the ad and you have a modified Malibu. Might be a nice car but "rare" in the sense it deserves more money than a regular modified Malibu in equal condition might be a stretch in my opinion.

Yes,you could order the tac-gauges with the 350 engine and the 5000 red line would be correct.

I have a 72 SS El Camino with a small block that has factory tach & gauges and the redline is 5000. I have a friend who has a 70 El Camino that he bought new with a 350 and got the tach & gauge package with a 5000 redline.

While this car is somewhat rare, it was available back in 70 if you checked the right boxes on the order form. I have seen at least two 70 Malbus with this option and one 70 Monte (more common because the dash was standard in the Monte). Both 70 Malibus had a 350-300HP 4-speed M20 and a 12 bolt rear. Basicaly a small block poor mans non-SS. All I've seen used a 5000 RPM redline tach.
