I didn't find a code on the axle housing. The casting number is 3917124N GM2DN Date looks like E 21 8. The axle has big brakes (Truck) and the factory coil spring upper control arm ears. Edge of flange to edge of flange is 49 1/2 inches. The tires on it now are N5015s with a full 12 inches of tread under the ZL1 Flairs. |

Whoah!!! That's a pretty wild one that I've never seen. Did it come from Motion w/ those flares? Is this one of the BB beasts? More specs and pics would be great. Thanks for the post. -Mark Holman

Thanks Guys. It is a wild Steet Freak. The car was found in Florida, by The COPO Locator, Tim Lapata ,a few years ago. It has passed through the hands of at least a few board members, before I ended up with it. It has a '74 350 stroked to 377. A TH400 trans and 12 Bolt with 4.56 gears. The car is as I purchased it. There is no documentation that this is a Motion Converted Vega, but it is at the very least,a Motion Equipped Vega. The Flairs were available from Motion Performance, they are called ZL1 Flairs. |

If it was a Motion converted Vega, couldn't Joel Rosen verify it and provide you with some documentation as such? You'd think.

Mr. Rosen was contacted and paid his fee by one of the previous owners. The info. which was provided to me is that he had no records on this particular car. |

So this thread is 22 years old. What I did not post (thought I had) is that I pulled the rear cover to inspect the gears and do some work and the flange where the cover would be bolted to had DH stamped into the housing. It was blocked by the cover. This prompted me to contact Mr. Hardy directly. He confirmed at the time that he had sold DH Vega rear ends and engine bracket parts to Joel / Motion Performance but that he stamped all of his rears in such fashion. He said it was a way to identify one of his rears and that it was not common knowledge. |
