Jaguar I think around the same time had a belt driven OHC engine, I'm not sure though.
The block and heads are cast iron, the cam cover is alum. One of my Firebird books quotes a 400ci Bird weighing 3250 lbs. It also said the OHC engine saved about 180 lbs in weight up front versus the 400ci. Doesn't mention what tranny.
