Just a post on terminology.
We talked about this several months ago and Jim has confirmed it above. The ordering of the special colors was not a COPO process. A more accurate statement is that special paint needed Central Office approval (specifically the F&SO dept).

And I was thinking the same thing about the special paint Chevelles. But couldn't see much logic to it. An orange SS or an orange plainjane is still orange with the same paint code. But something at the plant made it need to be differentiated......
