Very nice Rowdy, excellent restoration! I am glad to see I am not the only one who puts overspray on the intake, exhaust and by-pass.

SS427, Thanks for your comments about the Nova... I can tell you that with Brian's help, I did everything possible to restore the car as accurately as possible. The intake manifold was oversprayed on this car during the restoration because there were traces of orange paint on the manifold and it was pretty obvious that engine was relatively unmolested. While the overspray was not as heavy as that found on earlier big blocks, original 1968-69 Corvette big blocks with aluminum intake manifolds typically show some overspray IF that area was hit with the paint gun. If it wasn't, the intake surface of the heads didn't receive any paint and is bare as well. Obviously this isn't a Corvette engine, but both engines were assembled in Tonawanda and it DID show the same overspray pattern as the Corvette engines I have observed... So that's how it was redone. The exhaust manifolds on this car were not painted. With few exceptions (all during 1968), I personally haven't seen an original Corvette engine (post 1967) with painted exhaust manifolds. I don't believe that Brian disagreed with my observation (I don't want to put words in his mouth - he can reply as to his own experience) and the finish was left natural. For those who are still having trouble with the individual photos, you might want to try right clicking the mouse on the link, highlighting the web address under "properties," and pasting it directly into your browser. I don't know why the link keeps coming back as "forbidden." Regards, Stan |

In regards to the exhaust manifolds, I understand wanting to keep originality and not paint them but will it look good to have rust underhood? Why not Jet Hot coat them? I have used Jet Hot several times (they are right in PA) The grey finish looks like cast iron and has a rust proof finish which is guarenteed. I always hate when I look under the hood of a beautiful car to see rusted exhaust manifolds... Just a thought... Beautiful car BTW...
