Hi Folks,
I'm new to the group so I apologize in-advance if I'm posting this in the wrong section/thread. Brief background - I have owned a 1968 L35 Camaro for 25 years. It's a complete "numbers matching" car with several items of documentation. The car is equipped with front power disc brakes. At the time of purchasing the car, it had 15" rally wheels on it. I'm trying to make the car as "correct" as possible...within reason. I'll get to the point. I'm looking for 14" steel wheels, as the car was originally built with the 14x6 wheels with the SS wheel covers. The correct coded wheels are XF. I've learned, through posts on this forum, as well as others, that the XF wheels are very very rare. Finally...the question - is there any other 14" GM steel wheel that will fit the front wheels that have disc brakes? It doesn't have to be the correct year and/or part number. Thank you. Rob |

Hi Rob,
The XF wheels are hard to find-and they’re somewhat unique looking based on their offset. If you don’t need 1968 date codes, you might find some later ones from a disc brake equipped, non SS Nova (like the set shown in a posting here a week or two ago). Otherwise, you do have good 14” options from GM cars from 1969 onward when disc brakes became common and/or standard equipment. You could run XG 14x6 Rally wheels under your full covers, which would functionally be the same as they’re the same backspace/offset as the XF’s with 0.50” positive offset, which I think is the same as 3.5” of backspacing. This is probably the cheapest and easiest way to get era-correct wheels with the right “look” as far as how the tire looks on the wheel and in the wheelwell of the car. It looks like 1971/72 Camaros had an AM coded 14x6 wheel with the same specs as the XG. The 1973/74 Camaross had an EL coded 14x6 wheel also with similar specs. agree, XG's are the way to go for what your trying to do. You can look around for them and they do pop up time to time, and or, i believe they repop them as well.

Reach out to me if you have problems finding XG Rally’s. I have a friend with one or two sets in his parts barn out here in the Seattle area. I see them on local FB Marketplace fairly often as well.
