Still running Chevrolet power during the 70 season with Fred Gibb as a sponsor. Dick Harrell would switch to the Hemi power for only a short period of time before the accident in September 1971.

Also, Carter carburetors sponsored Dick Harrell was a sponsor for other people carrying the Harrell team banner.

There is no doubt the original post of this thread was made, but did the person identify correctly that his 70 Plymouth motor was by Dick Harrell?

Established as a fact that Dick Harrell did go to Hemi power for a short period of time. Larry Christopherson would come into the picture as a “Crew Chief” for the Camaro. Larry being familiar with the Hemi was helping DH with the aspects in a new adventure of using the Hemi for powering his Funny Cars?

Back in time, match racing was going strong. Bookings were for those well known names that would draw more spectators? Many of the racers would thrive off the guaranteed money that was there when booked?

Though Harrell was knowledgeable in Chevrolet’s, it became apparent that Hemi power would have to be used to stay competitive? Question is, did DH build the Hemi engines for his cars or for the general public?

Pictured below is that of Larry Christopherson lined up with Dick Harrell using the Hemi power?

Default DHPC Hemi engine

Looks like Dick was working with Ed Pink for the hemi motors.

A quite interesting event concerning DH and the short time he was using the hemi for power? When he finally conceded to the use of hemi power to stay competitive, not only in major events, but successful match race schedule. Having the best equipment available was a contributing factor along with tuning & driving skills.

Don Hardy was the reliable source for the chassis work and would first go with the Ramchargers to supply the engines.

As FirstGenFan posted a check written to Ed Pink, DH would switch to him for supplying the power? Eventually the engine builder would be included with other sponsors on his AA/FC.
