Default 1977 Pace Car

The 1977 Delta 88 was selected as the Indy Pace Car.
1st pic~James Garner seen here behind the steering wheel setting the pace in a Targa Top.ABC Wide World OF Sports Commentator Chris Schenkel, and an Indiana native,is in the back seat giving the pace lap report with Tony Hulman too.(Where is this car today?)

2nd pic~After winning the race, now 4 time winner A.J. Foyt is here riding around the track.Next to him is track owner Tony Hulman, this is the only time Mr. Hulman rode around with the winner, and sadly he died 5 months later after this pic was taken.

3rd pic~Sales ad.About 2,400 1977 replicas Oldsmobile Pace cars were produced for sale afterwards and had no Targa Top option. Those did not do well, and it was later felt sales might have been much, much better for them if the Targa Top was included and without that Indy paint scheme.

4th pic~One of those 2,400 replicas shown in the previous sales ad.

That's cool that the Pace car is still around AND has INDY 500 tires on it...

403 with a W-31 intake. It might have been beefed up a little bit.
