Definitely a safety issue especially if you are on a busy highway with your family on board and the vehicle just shuts off. Good to hear your loved ones are OK.
This has been happening to other manufacturers not only Chevrolet. Toyota issued a safety recall on there new 3rd Gen Tundra's and replacing over 100K engines free of charge. People are still driving their trucks knowing they could die at any time.

They were stuck on the NY Thruway for over an hour. When it shut down they were barely able to pull over. My understanding is only certain tow companies are permitted .

That must have been very frightening for her and her children. I would be very upset about it.

I bet there are more cases out there that we just don't hear about. If I was her I would file a compliant with the NHTSA.

You can report a vehicle safety issue to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) by: Visiting NHTSA.gov, Calling the Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236, and Mailing a letter to NHTSA.
