My guess is that the hidden CON VIN numbers correspond to a Baltimore built car. And I'll bet the selling dealer is clueless.

Oh well, at least it runs like a "sowing" machine and has good original "caron" bumpers

Be interesting to see a pic of the vin tag...
Car was most likely a donor body, built to the vin and vintage services build specs.

I had thought the same thing, Mitch, but I think 68 is when they switched VIN tag location to the dashboard. So, unless someone really botched the reattachment of the switched VIN tag on the underside of the dash, it would look pretty normal thru the windshield.
