I have a nos l88 short block part number 3970699 Would this be a correct replacement short block for a motion car?

I have a guy that offered me 6k for it , so what I’m asking is would it be correct for a tribute motion car or should I just build one from scratch? Thank you I also have a late 68 512 casting 427 that needs to be freshened but is complete so m not really sure what one is more correct and which one I should sell |

Does the NOS L-88 crate have a date on it?

I would think that is a NOS L-88 is a valuable item to keep intact with the crate |

These crate L88’s were available well into the ‘80’s in short block form but were pretty expensive. An LS6/7 long block could be had for cheaper than the L88 short block but they were great donors for anybody needing a new reciprocating assembly for a ZL1 block.

I have a "fitted" L88 short block dated 4/69. The bearings, pistons, rings are all in the block and fitted. The crank and 10 (yes 10) balanced rods are separate in their own box

Picture of the side of the crate sitting on my shelf that my L88 was in. I bought it in the 80's. I took it to a local speed shop years ago to have freshened up before installing it in my 55. It was missing a C clip holding in one of the wrist pins in one cylinder. That wouldn't have been pretty.
