First time I was there, they still had their overhead Christmas Tree. Four of five of us from the South Bend/Elkhart area left Martin US131 after racing the Saturday night program and made the trip over to Milan to race Sunday. As I recall, over twenty separate paved roadways twisted and turned until they eventually led the cars into the staging area. By then, any sand that may have been on the tires was long gone. And trees! Milan had oodles of trees and shade all over. I believe much of the pit area had been an orchard at one time. Here's an ad that shows their overhead Christmas Tree set-up.

To my understanding, the owners' plan was to get it back in shape and sell it off. So it's a good chance the track isn't going anywhere. I sure hope not- I want to run my car down it at least one time.

It is currently called Milan Dragway.

I kind of like the potential new name.........MiLillard Dragway. Not too many guys can brag about a dragstrip named after themselves.
