Default 1965

By and Large the favorite year GTO.

This ‘65 is a Sport Coupe (post) that is rolling on 5 spoke aluminum wheels.
No outside rear view mirror.

Slightly raised in front.
I’d bet it’s a 3x2’s 4 spd. meant to terrorize back in the day.

Plus Black & Yellows.

Stephen Pontiac 68 RAII GTO raced by bill Eckstrom
Pontiac performance division Bristol CT raced a 69 RAIV bird and a 70 RAV bird through 73
Article in Jan 72 Rodder and super stock magazine annoyed GM enough that they pulled some of their. Parts that were at Butch Elkins shop Diamond auto at the time and kicked them Out of the racing program
Although let’s face it after 73 was there really any worth while racing anymore. .
The car was marigold yellow not Mayfair maize as many think. Their signs were bright yellow and marigold matched the sign better.

Was it a "special paint" car?

That would explain the steel front bumper, as endura was not available with special paint.

Or - might have been ordered that way on purpose, as the steel bumper was (presumably) lighter than the endura system.
