Default The next project.

My dad has know about this car for years. A 1963 corvette stingray convertible that was parked in the early 70s. Three weeks ago he gets a knock on the door. Its the owner of the corvette. He tells my father he wants to sell him the corvette that he will never finish it he's 84 and wants it to go to a good home. My dad 79 laughed and said you should of sold it to me years ago. Then my father tells the owner my Son may be interested. We arrange time to go look at the car. The owner started a restoration 25 years ago, he took the body off the frame and started a back yard restoration. Basically just painted over everything. Its a numbers matching 327 250 hp car. It looks like tranny has been apart at some point as it has a 64 tail housing. The car was purchased in 1970, driven to 1974 then parked. It has 54k. Its originally silver with dark blue interior. He acquired a bunch of new parts which made the purchase more appealing to me although it all has to come back apart again. Wife is pretty happy with the purchase to.

Dang, had that one drop in your lap, eh ? Silver with Blue will be beautiful.
The "restoration" the PO started is hard to look at. Even 25 years ago, that car deserved better than it got.
We'll be looking for the build thread...

"Wife is pretty happy with the purchase too" ...

Being married myself, I have learned to look for little hints they (women) may leave as to what they really want. Although your wife appears to be showing appreciation for the Corvette, I have a hunch she is also subtly suggesting she would appreciate her own muscle car. More specifically, an Oldsmobile performance model muscle car. I could be wrong but I'll never admit it

Wow, that's an understatement! Great picture of your wife showing her enthusiasm

Great purchase. When the wife buys into it the struggles are much simpler.

When I sold my all original '68 396 SS/RS back in '01 I sold it for 4X what I bought it for in in '86 from the original owner. When I bought it back in '22 for 4X what I sold it for she didn't bat an eye.

Of coarse she knew it was pointless to push back, it was coming back home regardless.
