Wow, you're story hit me hard as I can take bits and pieces and spread them in various times of my childhood and come up with basically the same story....but I could never put them in such an impactful way.

I see your experience with a father hits all too close to home for others besides me. My grandparents only lived 16 miles away in St Paul, but I rode a bicycle there many times during summer break from school to "get away" from home for a day or 2 between 10 and 14 years old. Ironically, it was my fathers Mother that I ran to for comfort and protection.
