I was at the Barris Museum last night and saw these two pics. The first one said Ursula Andress and George Barris with the BMW that Elvis had gifted her. I guess Barris did the custom bumpers for her? Can't see much else modified.

Yep! This is the car commonly misunderstood by many to think Elvis ordered it new then gifted it to her. Not exactly correct. Elvis wanted to buy her a car and she wanted his BMW which he had already sold. So he told his guys to go find one, which they did, and he gave it to her as a gift. He never owned it, and Barris did some bumper work, trim, and exhaust work to it but that was about it. It still wears the bumpers to this day!
![]() Notice the black painted undercarriage. Undercoating was applied by the factory on these as an option, but the side frame rails were not coated. Her car was blacked out by Barris to show the lines more, I’m guessing. Cheers Dave |
