1969 Camaro Z28 on BAT -
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...maro-z-28-184/
No mention of the non original drivetrain Back in 2012 it was being asked about on camaros.net. Was bought as an original drivetrain car https://www.camaros.net/threads/cowl...estion.208521/ Has a 388 block with casting date of K-16-8 and a rear is a BO1226G2 124379N609445

From ad
“I guess there’s always going to be a diversity of opinion about the authenticity of engine stampings — it’s our belief that the engine is original / numbers matching. The Muncie 4-speed is not, however. Stay tuned for photos of more date codes, casting numbers, VINs, etc. within the next day or so — thanks!” |

If the vin ends in 609445, wouldn't it be a March car?
Would the 02D tag be too early for the VIN. CRG says last car out in Feb. was 607164. Educate me. Partial vin stamp by the oil filter is not original. November 16, 68 block assembled in Feb. 69? Pretty hard to swallow. Block could have been swapped since BJ. No pic of the casting date in current listing. Sits a little high in the back for a Z. Would like to see a pic of the rear springs from the side to see if it is four leaf.

VIN on block almost looks like something under it. There is a bare pad picture on the camaros.net thread and I don't like the stamp there either.
There is a 69 convertible on BAT now with the dash replaced and the seller seemed to think it was all original metal. Sites like this and the camaro sites are great to learn what to look for. Makes the subscription here well worth supporting

The last car out on Feb 28 may have been 607164, but there were alot of 02D cars unfinished going into March. Its the same block as back in 2012. Its a 388 block with a November 68 casting date. Kurt S knows the car. Go read the camaro.net post. Tells you all you need to know about the car,

No strike at Norwood.
Fisher Body skipped 02C; 02D builds span 18 production days and almost 13,000 units. Van Nuys was on strike April 28-June 18. The last 1,000 or so units were a mix of 04D and 05A tags.

That rear axle stamping looks altered also. The O in the BO stamping looks to be stamped over.
