Mecum Dallas, 2021
Lot # S136 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 Sport Coupe; S/N 124379N632792; Dusk Blue, White stripes/Blue vinyl; Recent restoration 2+ condition; With Reserve; Hammered Sold at $90,000 plus commission of 10.00%; Final Price $99,000 – 302/290hp with cross-ram intake and cowl induction hood, M20 4-speed, 12-bolt 4.88 Positraction rear end, power disc brakes, radio and heater delete, front and rear spoilers, Goodyear Wide Tread GT tires. – Restored four years ago. Not represented as matching numbers. Spotless engine bay and underbody. Excellent paint, chrome, and interior. Top notch restoration, good colors, and all the right equipment. – Sold by Mecum at Harrisburg in 2015 for $100,000, then here two years ago for the same price. It’s hard to imagine a ’69 Camaro with better equipment, missing only the JL8 4-wheel disc brakes. The cross-ram alone elevates this Camaro to near-sanctified stature although without any representation at all that this is the way it was built. The uncertainties are manifest in the price it brought but at this price it will be a rare prize for the new owner willing to overlook the gaps in its story. https://rickcarey.com/mecum-auctions...ber-9-11-2021/ Several other results with a Google search using quotes around the vin.

When entered in the db 12 years ago, it was a project with non-original drive train.
This is its 6th auction since 2015.

Lots of issues for someone wanting any kind of originality, or even day two, which is what the cross ram would be.
From the ad: "This Camaro is equipped with a chambered exhaust system,..." I am not seeing a chambered exhaust. Valve covers are later over the counter polished pieces, not assy line. X77 with style trim added, but forgot the little vertical bars in the tail lamp lenses and headlight trim. Missing the spray-on sound deadener on the insides of the quarter panels. Would not have come from the factory with heater delete. Who would put on a cross ram and NOT install headers, let alone leave the smog system in place? Especially with 4.88 gears. Inside of the wheels should be black, with silver over spray. I am certain there is more. Would not be much fun to drive in its current state.

I owned this car before and during the restoration. I bought it in Houston Texas while doing consulting work for a customer there. It was advertised on Craigs list. It is a X77 , no tach or gauges and I thought its a cheap Z with no options here is a chance to build it the way I would have ordered it when new. Dave Tinnell did the restoration and we added the crossram, 4:88 rear, radio delete, heater delete and glass hood. It was correct X77 trim when I sold it and didn't have any of the X33 crap on it. It doesn't have chambered we installed Gardner exhaust. I was running torq thrust originals with flat center caps and correct wide tread rubber. Motor is a true DZ engine but a little early for the car. I lost 11K on the car when I sold it and looking back really don't know why I sold it.
