Speaking of Winternationals, Tom Akin's LEAD SLED at NEITA Raceway (now Cedar Falls Raceway) Well known, it's one of two L72 '69 Kingswood wagons.

The LEAD SLED was a Dick Harrell Team Car and Top Stock winner at the 1970 AHRA Winternationals in AZ.
I remember this car brand new, rolling into the Schukei service dept. for John Day's race prep. - Bill W

2 Team cars? I ask because there are many more L72 Kingswoods that are known. I believe I have several Gibb dealer prep sheets for them as well. Here are some photos I got off the net years ago.

Looks like I have bad information Rick!! There is an old thread on this forum from about 2010 that states "one of two, the other being in the GM museum."
You and others would be much more reliable source than I!!

Thank you for posting more pix from before the custom paint!

I don't recall seeing one in the GM Heritage Center collection (presumably the GM Museum they are talking about).

But - the displays and vehicles rotate through. I'll have to take another look.

Seems I've opened a can of worms here....

I found the 2010 thread, but not the only place I've seen 1 of 2 stated, although here it's "Known to exist" as opposed to "Built." BIG DIFFERENCE!!

They had a white L72 69 wagon. Had a COPO sign on the dash - had to educate them about the engine being an RPO.
