Great project and welcome to the site.
When I read the first couple lines I thought you inherited the car as a result of your Dad passing. I am overjoyed that your Dad is still around and excited about the project. Some of the fondest memories I have are with my Dad and I working on cars together. Congrats!

Glad your Dad is going to do something with this car. It appears to be factory air too ? Did your parents live near a coast for some time ? That trunk lid has serious rust for a dry climate, BUT he is in an excellent location to find a clean, original, lid to replace it. If the door bottoms, fenders and hood are that affected too, I would be looking for clean, original, parts to replace.
Looking forward to the garage emptying and whole car "unveiling" episode...
