Sounds like my story. I bought an LO23 Hemi Dart from a bracket racer in CT, in the late 1980's back before there was any interwebs. It came with all sorts of weird spare parts including an NOS 1970-dated block (FYI supposedly there were never any blocks made in 1970, all the 70 and 71 cars had 1969 dated castings because the foundry made so many extra. It must have been a "back-door" speed part from Dodge). There were also boxes with "Dick Landy Industries" plastered all over the outside. Stoooopid me just figured that a prior owner just happened to buy a lot of stuff there.
DOH! Years later, long after I sold it. It turned out to be Dick Landy's actual 4-speed Hemi Dart race car. Had I only scuffed through the door jamb paint I would have found his original paint job remnants under there. |
