Cool car for sure, but unfortunately, the seller discloses "serious" rust issues with the birdcage. Kudos to the seller for honestly representing this one.

I’m not up on Corvette… what is the “birdcage” and why is it called that?
I think it is the frame area above the rear wheels…..? Ryan W31

ive been at this place.. every car there is trash! spray can refubished trash.. i can see cars in the background that were there over a year ago. i drove 6 hours with a trailer to look at a 72 camaro for 18k and it wasnt worth 5 grand. they take pics that are deceptive. i DO NOT recommend at all.

Can a bird cage in a C3 that has excessive rust be replaced- repaired or fixed? If so wouldn’t that be an expensive job?
Thanks

VERY expensive. The body has to be removed and from what little I have learned some of this cage may be embedded in the glass. The pics we see of the raised dimples around the headlights and hood are an example of this.
Apparently the pics didn't load for me the first time. I found them all on their website. It is an LT-1, but I think the 71k is the second time around. MAN that car is rough inside, outside and underneath.

I like original cars, even ones with lots of patina, but I don't think I'd go near this one. The motor looks good, maybe there's a tank sticker on the tank.

There were lots of pictures in the add farther down including pad pictures. No paperwork pictures, though.

Looking at the underneath pictures of the chassis and suspension. The rust is very uniform, going with the paint deterioration I would say the car sat outside in the grass for a long time....
