I was watching the sale of the Boss 429 online and there were two bidders from Nebraska running it up and occasionally one from Iowa. I've seen other estate auctions where 2 siblings run a vehicle up into the stratosphere in order to win the auction. Not saying that's what happened here, but it's a possibility given the bidder's locations.

It was my guess that it was a family member running up the Boss 429 Mustang. They had settlement money to spend. I was hoping to get the 69 Impala hardtop but it went well beyond what I thought was comfortable. If the video of it running didn't make you want it, you are dead inside.

I wonder if there wasn't some legal requirement that the cars be sold as part of the estate settlement and the proceeds distributed to the heirs. Then, if an heir bids up the car they end up with at least a percentage of the money spent.
