| What's it worth? 2011 Yaris with 3700 miles

Have a client that recently passed just a year after her husband passed. They bought a 2011 Toyota Yaris 2 door coupe brand new, then quit driving for the most part. That 3700 is not a typo. It really only has 3700 miles on it. Car looks and smells new. The client handling the estate lives out of State and doesn't want to mess with it. I have found several 2011s described as "pristiine", one with 75k miles and one with 90k miles. Both are priced over $14k. Client wants me to buy it for considerably less. I have put out some feelers, but don't have any friends or relatives in need of cheap transportation (gets 36 mpg on the highway) right now. I don't have time for things like this normally. What do you guys think? Easy flip during a gas crisis?

Drive it over to your local Toyota dealer. They will probably pay close to high retail.

Try Carmax. They will pay a premium for prime merchandise.

I echo “carmax”. Bet you could get an offer without even picking the car up. Send them the 411 and photos and see what they say it’s worth. Cheers.

I'd say if you could buy it for $10K you'd have no trouble selling it for a profit. Then if you feel particularly generous you could keep some of the profit for your troubles and send some back to the client or apply it to your fees.

I don't see where you would have any problem flipping it, Lynn. Like you say, it may take some of your time to deal with it, but it could be worth it.

Wow. That was one of the quickest flips ever. Didn't even get a chance to detail it or even vacuum. Found some folks in need who were thrilled to get it below market value. Every one is happy. Only one I ever did quicker was a BMW back in the late 80s or early 90s. We had a client who called and asked if we knew where a 525iS might be available on a Friday. Went to Dallas the next day, brought one that met his criteria home and sold it to him on Monday. He still has the car. Several years ago, I converted it from an auto trans to a five speed. He is one of my best friends still. Recently retired brain surgeon that could buy whatever he wants, but still drives an 85 535iS as his DD.

Used car market is insane with the shortage of new vehicles. Congrats on the quick sale and helping someone with the cost...

With the car market and gas prices the way it is, that car should have easily sold itself!!
