Factory Black '74 Z/28
Seller is flipping this one- Chuck Hanson was selling it on FB last week for $20k obo. Cool car, would have been interested had it been a 4-speed.
I love that the seller mentions the title is still in Chuck's name. That's a ballsy statement to make these days, when states are cracking down on title jumping. Link to 1974 Z/28 auction 1s87t4n216774 |

Not a low mile car as he suggests. probably 132,000 miles. Steering wheel is out of a late 70's Z. Both seats are split at the seams. Missing grille emblem. Painted wheels are wrong.
I could go on and on. Black is super desirable tho. Those tailpipes gotta go.

Good observations...for what Chuck was asking (I assume the current seller got it for less than the $20k ask) I think you could make those changes over time and still have the total investment well under $25k.

I just dont see a car like this getting 20 thous. I say its more like a 15,000, 18,000 tops for this Z. Nothing special, 245 horsepower 350 with all the goodies internally, forged crank, forged shot peened rods, forged pistons and a 4 bolt main block. Solid body for sure. And agree with other poster, a 4 speed is worth more too.

It's actually got the wrong grille. '74 is a 1 year only grille.
Those headlight bezels shouldn't be black either. I know it was mentioned for another late car, but I've never seen black bezels on a factory car. There's no documentation to support that either. All the NOS bezels I've seen and purchased were not black. Oh, yeah Jonesy, those tailpipes! You're right, gotta GO!

Totally agree Mark with the headlight bezels. The repop supply houses sell them like that, so thats got to be the way they came.
Also it says its an LT but it doesnt have the upgraded LT interior in it either. Just basic Vinyl. Not a high end car. Looks a bit worn out under the hood and interior.

Lots of wrongs to fix but being a real Black car is what makes it's worth fooling with. If a stick as Tony noted, it'd be worth looking at whether a factory Stripe car also if engine original but no matter, it's Sold. ~ Pete .

Agree with all the above comments - a lot of money for a car with a lot of questions. However factory black on a '74 Z28 is quite the find!
Not a single undercarriage picture either...that's almost always a red flag for me. I'd almost assure you it's an original stripe car, OR the fenders have been replaced. The fender emblems are way off in their location, they should be further forward by a few inches. The original Z28 emblems had locators and fasteners behind them so there would be holes in the fender. Here's Charley Lillard's survivor '74 (the best '74 Z28 benchmark car), note the fender emblem location.
