Not true for Canada, Lee, where this car was sold new. They were indeed still marketing the base model Chevelle in 1970 as a "300." The GM of Canada docs in the first post has "Chevelle 300 Deluxe" indicated on it. In fact, there was even a "300 Deluxe" emblem exclusive to these cars, as shown on this Canadian brochure and on the Fathom Blue car in the photos.
