One more thing worth mentioning... the D88 hood & deck stripe option was not exclusive to the SS optioned cars, it was also an available option on 1970-72 flat hood Malibus. There are quite a few documented examples out there.

I had one. Fairly rare. It was a small block with a 4-speed in a regular Malibu. Red car, black stripes, black interior.

![]() Yes, my 72 SS is a special order paint car that has factory hood pins with the dome hood, and when I stripped down to original paint there was no evidence of stripes. My original thought was with hood pins it should have had stripes but now I see from your description, in 72 that wasn't the case, so what I'm finding is correct. |
