This is exactly the same issue I have. Someone spray bombed the gas tank and some of the frame on the rear of the car and I would like to remove it. Any advice is much appreciated.

I think each case is different. You have to sneak up on it. Graeme had a graffiti remover he used on one of his cars that got rattled. I ended up using enamel reducer as my magic.
