It could be dated with his service # you have partially blacked out. However that my be difficult. My # was B40 XX XX. At some point in time they started using a letter pre fix. I entered in 8/1966 and a few guys I served with had only #'s
According to the dates below is when the service branches started using SS #'s . If your tag has a 9 digit it may be dated after the changeover ? Branch of Service Date of Changeover to SS # Army and Air Force July 1, 1969 Navy and Marine Corps January 1, 1972 Coast Guard October 1, 1974 Last edited by m22mike; 11-16-2020 at 07:33 PM.
