Very interesting; I googled "water down the carb" and this popped up:
https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/...he-carb.32112/ Let us know if you try it and the results... I'm kind of curious myself. I've used SeaFoam through a vacuum hose for years on the day of my "newer vehicles" smog check and it seemed to help them pass, but I also experienced crazy amounts of smoke during and after for a few miles... presumably all the contaminants leaving out the tailpipes.
