The date code is October 4, 1966 for an early 1967 model car
The second digit on the stamping means model year not actual year. So in this case, its the 67 model year, but built in Oct 1966.

Ah, I get it. A little reading and 63 to 66 muncie transmissions only got a date not a year. Learn something new every day. So it's a 1967 with a L78 designated part number. Is there a registry on the 67 L78 chevelle? I would like to check the partial vin for a match.
