You have to be careful with the used ones. A new set of clutches can make the over all price go over what a new one would cost. The preload plates in the old ones can crack and the cross shaft can be worn and need to be replaced. The original gears are no longer available, so if one of the gears is chipped or pitted you have to replace the whole set. If it was run with one of the pinion thrust washers missing then the case could be worn and not usable. There are some good used ones out there. I'm just saying be careful or you will end up with more money in a used one that what a new one would cost.
