| It's alive!

I finally buttoned up my new motor yesterday and fired it for the first time. Thankfully everything went off without a problem and I ended the day with a nice 25-30 mile cruise. I needed that... The motor is a Gen 6 454 punched .030". I did a bunch of work to it and installed a Lunati roller cam and lifter set. Lift .625/.625 Duration 241/249 @.050. 9.5:1 with a Holley 850. She sure isn't the 408ci that I took out! I can tell when I eventually stretch her legs, she should have some real nice power. Now I can get back to finishing up the body so I can lay some paint at some point. Then again, I like a primer grey 69... For anyone that might want to see my build thread over on TC: http://www.camaros.net/forums/133-bu...post1783027169 I even took to her for a much needed and well deserved bath. No, the mud wasn't from my 69... Video:

Congrats. Was the 408 a little more radical? How's the torque with the 454?

Looks good. Editorial comment though: Hopefully that fuel line is temporary. Long lengths of rubber line make me nervous from a safety perspective (yes, I know lots of guys do this). Also, having it that close to a heater hose and rubbing on upper alternator bracket is not good long term. Don't take this wrong... not trying to be critical... I'd just hate to see a fire on such a cool car. |

I do know about the rubber hose though. There are several things I just put on temporarily to get it running. I installed a new tank from Spectra with the electric pump in the tank. I used the factory 3/8" feed and 1/4" return and went straight to a Mallory 4309 regulator. 1/4" really is probably too small, so I might run another 3/8" line at some point. It's only a 50 gph pump, so I'll have to look into it a little more. Thanks for the comments.

Thanks! It was real nice driving her in to work this morning. I still have more tuning to do. My Holley 850 isn't playing nice with me. I think it's just because of the fuel pressure regulator I'm running. I can't turn it down to the 6-7lbs I need.
