Date on the tag was likely 79 to begin with

That is what I had a problem with figuring it out. I was thinking crossfire injection. But the questionable date wasn't helpful.

It was for sale for $1500 last time.

Be VERY cautious, that steel/foil sticker has definitely been tampered with.
