4,000 mile '69 Z/28

I contacted the seller and asked:

Why did it sit from 69 onward, and why nothing on the numbers matching?

Was it blown up or was it a race car in the past? I'd appreciate knowing more.

His response was this:

The car was raced in 1969 and ran a fast enough time that it needed a roll cage put in it. So my wife's grandfather just parked the car in his garage and saved it for a rainy day. The car was parked with 2800 miles. It has only been driven up and down the road for all the years to get to 4K miles.

I then asked what motor was in it since he claimed it ran fast enough to need a roll bar, and asked why no info about the engine, trans and diff numbers matching?

His answer was even weaker.

It definitely did with this motor. It's 1/8th mile track.
