it has a special shifter mechanism for 70-72.. the reciever kicks hard to the right..and they are not easy to get..you should try for one with the handle and mechanism..the rods and levers are easy to get

edit..oh..i see you have oldmobiles..sorry if its obvious..i was trying to be helpful
