Two easy ones for the group: 1. Is the 302 in a 1968 Z/28 a 2-bolt main engine or a 4-bolt main engine? 2. What is the real horsepower number for that engine? Is it actually more than 290HP? Thanks all, Fred Gustat |

67,68 were 2 bolt engines. In 69, they went with the 350 block that were 4 bolt mains. Engines put out close to 350HP..

68 had large journal crank versus small journal for 67 as I recall.

You don't have a '68 RS Z/28 you plan to sell someday, do you? Is the 302 a really strong engine? Fred Gustat |

IMO yes the 302 Z-28 Engine is strong. Good bottom end and revs. Strong as far as performance, yes they are. Jerry McNeish Camaro guru runs his 67-302 Z-28 Stock Eliminator NHRA Class. 10.50 ETs all day. I believe he set a record run with that car, 10.30-ish ET.
